The Presidential Secret Service detail has one job. It’s pretty simple. Protect. The. President. So it’s understandably concerning when an agent declares that she “will not protect the President.” That’s pretty cut and dry NOT doing your one job.
Does every Secret Service agent agree with Donald Trump? No, obviously not. They should, but it’d be ridiculous to assume everyone does. Each agent has his or her own ideology that they subscribe to. However, professionalism dictates laying their personal beliefs down to serve their country.
However, for one agent that simple expectation was too much.
It’s unrealistic to say that people who work within the government don’t have their own opinions on politics.
According to Patriot Journal:
Looks like that behavior does not go without consequences.
But one Secret Service official made waves when she said she’d balk at taking a bullet for President Donald Trump. As The Washington Examiner reported:
A senior U.S. Secret Service agent posted Facebook condemnations of President Trump during the past seven months, including one in which she said she wouldn’t want to “take a bullet” for him…
The special agent in charge of the Secret Service’s Denver district who is under investigation for a social media post suggesting she wouldn’t take a bullet for President Trump has been suspended, CBS station KCNC-TV reports.
The station has learned that Kerry O’Grady has been suspended from her job with pay.
It’s shocking and disgraceful that a member of the Secret Service would spew her toxic views so publicly. So what if you didn’t support Donald Trump? He’s the president and it’s your duty to serve him, even take a bullet, if it came to that.
The fact that O’Grady allowed her political bias to taint her ability to serve is telling. We are living in such a divisive political climate, that people are unwilling to put their opinions aside to do the right thing, even their jobs.
This is a direct result of the toxic, dishonest media, which constantly looks to turn us against each other.
She may be suspended with pay for now, but the investigation promises to uncover more reasons for the Secret Service to let her go.
