Greg Abbot, Governor of Texas, has just taken the first step to restoring law and order in border states; he has signed a bill that is likely to not only keep criminal migrants out of his state, but also make the people much safer. Simply put, he has made it compulsory for Law Enforcement officials to follow Federal law on Immigration Detainers.
To allow local Counties to catch up, the law will officially begin in September, and will mean that both Police chiefs and sheriffs can face criminal and civil charges if they refuse to cooperate with ICE agents and the enforcement of law. It also has provisions that allow police to officially inquire about someone’s Immigration status.
Upon signing the Bill, Governor Abbot said: “Legal immigration is different from harboring people who have committed dangerous crimes,”. “This law cracks down on policies like the Travis County sheriff who declared she would not detain known criminals accused of violent crimes,” he added. “Those policies are sanctuary city policies and won’t be tolerated in Texas.”
Sanctuary Cities are a danger to all Americans, migrant or otherwise. they encourage criminals to move to them in the knowledge that they will not be deported. At least on politician is now taking this danger seriously, hopefully more will follow his example.
In a special Facebook Live event from his office on Sunday night, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the simple way he found to make illegal immigrants flee his state in droves. Now, liberals are going nuts.
Abbott signed the state’s sanctuary city bill into law on Sunday, marking the toughest anti-sanctuary city law to be instated in the entire country thus far.
The legislation provides both criminal and civil penalties for police chiefs and sheriffs who refuse to honor immigration detainers. It also includes a provision that allows police officers to inquire about the immigration status of a person they have detained.
“Let’s be clear about something. We all support legal immigration. It helped to build America and Texas,” Abbott said before signing the bill, according to Breitbart. “Legal immigration is different from harboring people who have committed dangerous crimes,” he continued.
“This law cracks down on policies like the Travis County sheriff who declared she would not detain known criminals accused of violent crimes,” he added. “Those policies are sanctuary city policies and won’t be tolerated in Texas.”

No governor has come down harder on illegal immigration than Abbott, who made the issue of sanctuary cities an emergency item for the Texas Legislature during his State of the State Address in January. Lawmakers delivered in the form of Senate Bill 4 by Sen. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), the new legislation Abbott signed on Sunday.
“In the past six years, criminal aliens have been charged with more than 566,000 crimes in Texas including kidnapping, homicide, burglary and much more. There is no excuse for endangering our communities by allowing criminal aliens who have committed a crime to go free,” Lt. Governor Dan Patrick said following the bill’s final passage. “SB 4 will ensure that no liberal local official can flaunt the law.”
As you might imagine, the Democrats are not happy about the new law. “They did not connect the history of our culture or how closely that it is tied to Mexico,” Democratic state Rep. Eddie Rodriguez said, according to Fox News. “It’s just extremely personal. There is a lot of disconnect. They don’t really see this as affecting people.”
Of course, the people most negatively affected by mass illegal immigration are American citizens who actually belong here. If Rodriguez and his ilk want to talk about how SB 4 will affect people, they ought not leave out the millions of tax dollars which will be saved when Texans no longer have to foot the bill for those who come here without a means to support themselves, or the teens who won’t be forced into violent drug gangs, or the lives which won’t be lost to crime at the hands of undocumented criminals.

Governor Greg Abbott appears to be following President Donald Trump’s lead to make Texas safe again. He concluded his signing on Sunday by saying, “There is a reason people come to American because we are a nation of laws and Texas is doing its best to keep it that way.”
Indeed, we will lose the America we all know and love if liberal politicians continue to favor the feelings of law-breakers over the rights and well-being of citizens. There’s a damn good reason you don’t see throngs of Americans immigrating illegally to Mexico. The last thing we want is to turn our beautiful and bountiful country into an extended version of the cesspool south of the border.
