After years of disrespect and denigration by the Obama Presidency, the Service men and women of America have every right to feel as though their country does not care for them. But that’s changing, and President Donald Trump is leading the way on this.
After Army Seargent, Alvaro Barrientos lost part of his leg whilst serving in Afghanistan last month, the last thing he expected was a personal thank you from the President o the United States; but that’s what he got. The President and First Lady went to visit Barrientos and other wounded soldiers at the Walter Reed Memorial Hospital in Maryland. Whilst there, the President awarded him the Purple Heart.
As he pinned the medal to Barrientos, Trump can be heard whispering “When I heard about this and I wanted to do it myself.” At last, we have a President willing to show respect and care towards US veterans.
But this is not the only thing Trump is doing to help Vets. Just last week he signed the S.544” Veteran’s Choice in Healthcare Act” which will allow veterans to have a choice of health care providers. Many ex-soldiers have to travel hours and hours to receive the treatment they need and deserve. but now they have a choice and can go to local hospitals to get treatment.
It’s about time someone started looking after out vets. Obama was ashamed of them and the work they have done for our country. He is the one who should be ashamed.
President Donald Trump has gone and done it again. Today he showed up at a hospital out of nowhere and made a soldier’s dreams come true.
Army sergeant Alvaro Barrientos was wounded in Afghanistan on March 17. He lost part of his right leg.
When President Trump heard, he and Melania were so moved they went out to Walter Reed Memorial Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland to present the veteran with the Purple Heart in person.
Right before pinning the medal to Sgt. Barrientos, Trump quietly said, “When I heard about this and I wanted to do it myself.” That right there is why our Troops love our president.
(Video starts around 3:30)
While it was less televised than his meeting with Barrientos, Trump also went and visited about a dozen other wounded warriors at the hospital in Private before heading back home.
Look, I cannot say enough about what this means. Our troops should never have to go through the disrespect Obama showed them. Now that Trump’s in charge, they are finally getting treated right.
I know it’s not much, but I think all of us should send a “thank you” prayer to Sargeant Barrientos and his wife. Leave an AMEN to make sure they get the message. 🙂
